Shota Saganelidze (GEORGIAN DANCE)

Contemporary artist-calligrapher Shota Saganelidze uses the Georgian alphabet not only for writing - he has created and developed his own original style and creates minimalist faces with Georgian letters, where each letter signifies a part of the face. He experiments with different materials to express emotions and character.
In this way, he has created portraits of famous Georgian historical figures, including King Tamar, Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli, actor Sofiko Chiaureli, artist and director Sergi Parajanov. The sculpture is performed by artist-calligrapher Shota Saganelidze and fully reflects the dynamics of Georgian dance.
The faces of men and women made through calligraphy combine the letters of the third century BC, the Middle Ages and modern writing.
