Sculptures

Patrick Meagher (The Green Grass of Hope)

Each of the 5 clusters of The Green Grass of Hope (Springs Eternal), has a different feeling and visual order, forming an open but defined space on the ground plane. The artwork is best experienced by walking among the variegated composition; in this case, an implied grassy field can be felt palpably in the knees - triggering a body meridian response. The work is thus localizing and transporting, literal and evocative, abstract and indicative, with or without this story line, title, or the added poems, but ideally enhanced by it as additional points of entry. The sculptures acts as spatial cues and physical reminders of springtime green, shifting our awareness between memory and real life and virtual physicality in nature.
